Advocacy for Healthcare Professionals & Scientists

A project made possible through a grant from the Drug Policy Alliance

Doctors for Drug Policy Reform (D4DPR) is launching a new initiative to empower healthcare professionals and scientists to challenge punitive drug laws and champion a health-based, evidence-informed approach to drug use. We invite all concerned healthcare professionals and scientists to join us, whether new or experienced, and lend your voice when timely advocacy opportunities arise–at the local, state, national, or international level.

The D4DPR Health Advocacy Toolkit

Over the past year, we have developed a comprehensive Advocacy Toolkit for Healthcare Professionals & Scientists exclusively for members of our new Health Advocacy Network, created to:

  • Provide guidance for writing op-eds, testifying at hearings, meeting with lawmakers or reporters, and speaking publicly;
  • Educate on the failures and lasting harms of the War on Drugs, especially for marginalized communities; and
  • Equip member advocates with language, tools, and support to confidently reframe drug use through a compassionate public health lens.

In this pivotal moment, we need healthcare professionals like you to speak up—especially when critical legislation is being debated. Whether you’re an experienced advocate and can share your work in real-time or are just starting on your advocacy journey, our Toolkit offers accessible, flexible ways to deepen your involvement at the local, state, national, or international level.
